GRC Professional : GRC Spring 2012
This spring edition of GRC Professional coincides with our inaugural 2012 GRC conference, combining the annual conferences of ACI and The Risk Management Institute of Australia (RMIA). It is with much pleasure that I welcome our notable group of keynote speakers and members from Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific, Asia, and further afield, for what promises to be a most important and enlightening forum. As we highlighted in our program -- the overarching goal of this conference is to ensure professional development excellence in the disciplines of compliance, risk and governance. I am sure you will agree with me that we have brought together an impressive gathering of highly valued experts in their fields who will provoke and widen our thinking with their addresses. I also look forward to some robust discussion in The Great Debate. Though this conference is held in Australia, it is important to remember that it offers a unique connection with the international GRC marketplace, providing the perfect opportunity to network with key decision makers, industry leaders and learn about the latest products and ser vices. I have no doubt you will come away from it with myriad new ideas to enhance your business and expand your capabilities. On another note, it is with much pride that I can announce that the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) has agreed to support ACI's proposal to commence work on the creation of an international compliance standard. While this is a significant step forward for both ACI and the compliance profession, the final standard will not be finalised for around about three years, but as the ISO standard will be based upon AS/NZS 3806, our members already using this standard will have a distinct advantage over their international counterparts that do not. I can't emphasise enough how effective compliance programs are fundamental to business sustainability in a complex, competitive and inter-dependent world economy. Finally, in the next month ACI will be hosting our annual Christmas networking events. These are fantastic opportunities to meet fellow compliance and risk professionals, as well as catch up with past colleagues. Time permitting, I intend to be in attendance at all of these, so I look forward to catching up with members and guests as we enter the holiday season. As this is the last edition of GRC Professional for the year, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our members and sponsors for their continued support and to wish you and your family a very happy and safe Christmas.
